Ikea Coventry

Ikea have built one of their largest stores in the Middle of Coventry Town centre. The store, which has seven floors, has an air-based system with the main plant consisting of 7 large Ground Source Heat pumps providing 1500kw of heating and cooling.

As this was the first open bore hole system installed within the City of Coventry, close communications between the Environment Agency and TCS was needed to ensure the system met with their approval.

Two abstraction and 2 recharge bore holes were installed to a depth of 200m within the sandstone strata to meet the dissipated heating and cooling duties of the ground source reverse cycle heat pumps.
